The nightmare continues…

Frankfort Cemetery

The grave of Daniel Boone

Many people glorify our heroes, and long for the days when life was simple.

During the time I lived in Frankfort, Kentucky, I visited Daniel Boone’s resting place; a well-kept cemetery with a history spanning over 250 years.

Nearby were the gravestones of a mother and father.  Next to them was a neat row of smaller graves.

I can’t remember the number of children from the age of newborn to adolescence who were buried next to their parents.

I do remember that inside a peaceful cemetery lay the broken dreams and a sorrow of loss few of us can imagine.   One child — out of many — survived long enough to marry and have children.  She is buried with her husband near the graves of her parents and deceased siblings.

At that moment, I carried my infant daughter and my husband carried our 2-year-old son along with us as we took a tour.  Both my children are in their 40’s now, but I remember that moment clearly — for it was the exact moment I stopped glorifying “the good old days.”

Nothing can compare to that level of sorrow — but I have to say that the hackers who are presently trying to take over my life are a close second.

I just received notification from EBay:

We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been secured because your login information may have been used without your permission. We understand that this could be concerning, but your account and personal information are safe. Your eBay password was reset to make sure no one can access your account but you.

Here’s what you should do next

The “Ebay” website doesn’t look right.  If I click on any of the above, will the hackers be laying in wait?

Why am I so paranoid?

I received notification from Amazon last night that my account was reinstated.  They first sent me an OTP notification through my email.  Then, I didn’t receive the second OTP notification after changing my password.

I called Amazon and had to try twice.

  • The first time, I was disconnected.
  • The second guy couldn’t help me.
  • The third guy barely spoke English and reminded me of men in the 1960’s — pretentious, and if you’re a woman it’s all your fault.  He said I had given Amazon a cell phone number and that’s where the OTP was being sent.  From the last 3 numbers of the cell phone, I believe it belongs to the hackers.

In one of the rare moments at home that my cellphone was able to connect to WiFi, Amazon sent an OTP code to me.  However, I was told by Mr. Pretentious that I had  authorized Amazon ONLY to send the OTP code to the cell phone on the Amazon page.

I have 3 books published through Amazon, and they show up just fine if you type “Joelle LeGendre” in their book section.  I clicked on “Buy with one click” and Amazon wanted me to sign in first.

My books are as effectively locked away as a body in a grave.

If you can get through to my books, and if my books show up in your cart, please advise Amazon that their system is Cr@p.

I’m beginning to long for the good old days again.
