In childhood, I twirled around
under the setting Miami sun,
creating a wispy breeze of
roses, honeysuckle and jasmine.
.
My feet cuddled by the short, flat
blades of Bermuda grass,
My eight year old mind shouted,
“I can be anything!”
.
You became my world, my light,
our love blossoming with every tiny
thoughtfulness,
through youth and middle age.
.
We near the end, lights shining on a
frigid winter dusk. A stark beauty,
where love’s magic never dies, even
in the darkest of seasons.
