Testing 1…2…32
This is just a test.
It is only a test.
So, please…don’t get testy.
What is your answer to this ONE question:
Is your blog getting as much traffic now as it did in 2020?
Why do I ask?
A few months back, there were so many WordPress emails coming through my inbox that it was taking too much time to go through them all. I have no idea which button I pushed on the left-hand side of my blog, but the notifications stopped coming.
Now, instead of getting 50 notification from WordPress a day, I’m getting 50 politicians a day asking for money.
I’d rather have notifications from WordPress.
My “likes” have dwindled from 30 per post to an average of 17, and I’m trying to find out if I’m the only one with shrinking traffic.
Again, the question I’m asking is this: Is your blog getting as much traffic now as it did in 2020?
(I hope) I look forward to your answers.
I’ve been getting notifications as always it did, but the traffic?, a big No. I’ve stopped posting and been missing blogging for sometime and when i thought I am back continuously for a week, i am away from blogging again 🙄😕 then I saw ur post, commenting here, liking, did I give some traffic 😇. have a lovely day Joelle ❣️

Thank you for confirming that I’m not the only one. 🙂

After blogging for twelve and a half years now, I’m not nearly as concerned about stats as I used to be. That being said, it does seem my likes/ comments might be down a bit, but I’ve attributed to posts that might not be as interesting, as I have less time to research topics.

That’s what I was attributing it to, also. A friend said it might be due to the fact that the lockdowns were lifted and people are back to work.
It helps to know we’re not alone.

It’s more or less the same. But overall, the number of people blogging has reduced. Some have just stopped posting, others have closed down their blogs.

I didn’t know about the number of blogs that have closed. With inflation so high and fuel prices rising — do you think that people might not be able to afford the yearly payment to continue blogging?

I think some just lost interest in blogging.

That’s a possibility.

Some probably can’t afford it. Some others got fed up with all the changes WP made (aka fixing things that weren’t broken), and some quit posting without ever giving a reason, leaving us to speculate…

My “gut instinct” tells me you’re on to something; fixing things that weren’t broken is a big reason some people quit posting.

My views went down last year and of course this year is not over yet but it does look as if they are going down ?

Reading the comments, it appears that we are not the only ones seeing the trend.
Hopefully, blogging doesn’t die the same way that malls did after on-line sales became popular.

Yes it’s an eye opener… I really hope not though 💜💜

Blogger has had a problem with comments. It’s sending some to spam so I always have to check the design/comments to see if there are any stuck in there. Other people have complained about their comments just disappearing. I wonder if some bloggers don’t know how to check for blocked comments.
I have comments set up to send me an email when someone comments. Depending on the person, I get emails, but some not, ever. I don’t know why.
I haven’t seen you in a while. Come over and comment. I’ll let you know what notifications I got.
And if I remember, when you answer a comment here, I get an email from you.

It appears that I have comments set up to send me an email when someone comments, too. But I’m not getting emails.

I remember why I couldn’t go to your blog. This is the message that I received:

My peak traffic year was in 2019. Traffic dropped in 2020 and it dropped again last year. I’m on pace this year to be about the same as in 2021.

Maybe there is a peak time for every blog?
Hoping that your blog continues to pick up traffic.

Traffic on my blog is up and down more randomly, but figures are definitely down overall.
My monthly views averaged over 10K but since March, now I’m lucky to hit 7. Last July I had nearly 11 thousand views, last month only 7417, June 2021 just shy of 12K and this year only 6373. 2021 was my best year so far at over 123,000 views.
I used to get loads of notifications via email too but now get none.
I thought my blog was running out of ‘go juice’ but now I think things have been switcheroo’d again behind the scenes at WP. At least I am still getting comments, and they are more important than views. I am annoyed at the number of business or corporations that tag on as followers though. I went through a lot a little while ago and reduced my followers by over 1000, though I cannot believe I actually deleted that many!

I think you’re correct. There has probably been another “switcheroo.”
I have to go to the “Inbox” in order for the pull down feature to work. That’s where I have to go to get my notifications.

I wasn’t aware anything was broken for them to fix, but then that never seems to stop them tinkering I suppose!

I don’t think my stats haven’t changed a lot since 2020, but ever since WP changed the way they show the stats, it’s harder to compare different years. I have more followers now than I had then, and sometimes it seems as though I get more likes and comments than I used to, but it varies from week to week… so maybe on average not much difference.

You always post humorous pictures and memes that are very popular. You put merriment into all our lives. 🙂

Chaplin: “He thinks his author blog is on track for about the same traffic as in 2021, which was lower than 2020. Over there he just does one post a week, so nothing is getting skewed by frequency on that one!”

Today is the first time I’ve logged into WordPress in probably two months. I like reading blogs but I have nothing of interest to write about. Summer is very hot and busy for me with this huge yard. My mornings are spent outside and doing chores so that I can just do nothing when the heat comes. I won’t even have my computer on past noon as it just adds to the heat. We don’t have A/C, not even a window one right now, so we try our best to not heat the house. Maybe summer is making the numbers go down?

That’s possible. I live in Florida with no A/C — just a fan in the window. The heat doesn’t bother me as much as it bothers most people. That said, summer is very hard on computers and the one I’m using has a fan on it constantly — with no sides. It would heat up too quickly otherwise.

Less traffic. From the identities of people commenting and liking which number I can count per post on my fingers and toes, less people. Also many are newer than the 2020 crowd. A lot of old followers have dropped out of sight for one reason or another. In ten years my greatest post was in 2019 when one of my cats died. Not a path I want to take for more participation. Somewhat disheartening to say the least but a welcome expression of sympathy and sorrow for the cat.

After reading all the comments, I’m wondering if blogs are going the way of the “Mall.” I’m not and Instagram TikTok kind of person. 🙂

First time I’ve read your posts. I started blogging like a week ago and I have two followers. One of them is myself. As you said in a prior comment, maybe we just need to turn our blog posts into TikToks…. Or in my case, maybe I’m just not funny *sob*

Hope your blog starts to take off soon. I had 5 likes for the first few months, then they started building. I was up to 30+ until a few months ago.
