And, YES, you’re supposed to laugh at really, really, really bad poetry — or groan. Your choice.

The expert on how to be (Kevin) Spacey
I’d rather be great than late.
I’d rather be strong than long.
I’d rather have wings than sing.
I’d rather be right than wrong.
I’d rather be selling my books,
Than lying around in my bed,
Except for the fact I’m still very weak,
It’s better than if I were dead.
So now it’s time to start living,
To write, to walk… to pray
I’ll have at least one more tomorrow,
without wanting to have yesterday.
I’d rather be living each moment,
With expressions of kindness, and grace.
Illness has taught me to honor
The wonder of living in space.
This is good/bad Joelle.

My problem with poetry is that sometimes I think bad poetry is good. Some good poetry I think is bad. I won’t use those adjectives. I like this poem in spite of its self, there’s some truths in it and it made me smile anyway.
