99 word prompt : kids
November 25, 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write about a canceled flight. Where was the flight headed? Who does it impact and why? How does a protagonist handle the situation? Go where the prompt leads!

When people ask, “How did both your kids turn out so great?”
I reply, “They raised themselves well.”
Why?
We moved to different parts of the USA; from Minnesota to 5 other states, and back to Wisconsin for 7 years. Once my kids were 8 and 10, we moved to California.
My daughter was on a flight that arrived late. She immediately found out where the next connection was, and asked to be booked on that flight. There were only two people who immediately rescheduled, and she arrived home on time.
She was 14.
Indeed, she raised herself well.
Learning how to adjust to change makes a person quicker to manage the unexpected. Multiple moves provided a path to maturity.

My daughter found the man she loves, and he is amazing. She adopted his kids when they were younger, and now they are adults who say (after giving her big hugs), “I just visited the egg donor. You’re my mother.”
My son is recently divorced and has custody of his teenager daughter. He is an amazing man with an exhausting schedule.
Both of my children FAR surpass their mother’s “maturity.”

I think you have them the tools to be independent thinkers. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Thanks. 😊
I’ve been looking for those “tools” lately. Now I know who has them. 😅

LOL! Maybe that’s the key: I don’t train my kids…They’re educated.
Training: Here! eat what I throw you.
Education: Before you put this in your mouth, analyze the contents from the box, research what the contents will do to the body, and then decide whether or not you want to eat it.

Yes indeed, you certainly educated them to think for themselves.

She’s still just as gifted today. She is the manager of a place that sells cell phones. LIke her maternal grandfather, she has the gift of being able to sell snow to an Inuit. ☺️
