Sarcasm humor rant : Getting used to a new phone.
My daughter gave me a new phone for my birthday. As a reminder, she manages a cell phone store. Had I been visiting her, there would have been a phone ready with everything I needed before I left her home.
This time, I wasn’t that lucky.
Sadly, she lives in the middle mid-west, aka Tornado Alley: 1200 miles and 17.5 hours away by car, 3 days by bus. That’s a long way to go for a new Galaxy phone.
I’ll shorten a VERY long story: Getting the new phone wasn’t easy. After waiting 1 hour the first day (and getting nowhere) and 1 1/2 hours the second day (and getting somewhere sloooowly), the cell phone store finally had my phone ready — and almost everything was transfered over…
…except the ringtone, and how to use the D@#$%d thing.
Being technologically inept, I’m still trying to understand simple things (like how to turn the phone on and off), but I did manage to take a few pictures.
Today was $5 off of $25 day at Dollar General. If you’ve never seen a Dollar General, this will give you a visual. In the countryside of Florida, they are ubiquitous.
There are three within 15 miles of each other and, no, I didn’t go to Mars for this photo.
Just before leaving the house to shop, I used the camera in my phone to take a picture of a hitchhiker that had made himself at home in my car.
It only took me 2 hours to figure out how to send this picture to myself so that I could put it into “My Pictures” on the computer. Then, I had to upload it to WordPress.
Now all I have to do is upload the ringtone for my phone that fits my personality. This is the one I’ve used for the past 15 years:
When we replaced our first mobiles, it took us two years to work out what the occasional beeping was……………… how were we to know someone was texting us?????

That sounds about right. It took me that long to figure out texting the first time.

Getting a new phone is exciting but also too much work. What I loved about Apple phone is that you just need to log into your Apple ID and everything gets transferred, seamlessly.

Setting up the bluetooth connection from the phone to the computer is fun. First, the phone fights you then the computer fights you.

I have never tried bluetooth. I’m not there yet.
