Missing cat
Chilly Coon Kitty is missing.
He’s rarely away from my desk.
I’ve walked around the property, called his name, and…nothing.
Not a “goodbye”– or a “why the hell aren’t you feeding me?” swat to the wrist.
Just…gone.
Here’s a picture I took of him yesterday hanging around with his buddies.
Does he look distressed to you? Unhealthy? Frightened?
Why do cats do that to us? We think everything is just great and then they disappear for a day…or a lifetime.
Cats, it’s seems, are God’s personification of sarcasm.
If you’ve ever heard him meow, it’s like someone crossed a coon cat with a siren. I fear he has somehow contracted laryngitis and gotten lost in his own back yard.
If you’ve seen this face anywhere in North Florida, please let me know. He’s dumb as a rock, but he’s my very-much-loved dumb as a rock kitty cat.
I hope you find him soon. 🤗

I couldn’t sleep without my desk mate. In desperation, I shook his treat box.
He didn’t come through the door out of love, but for a treat.

He didn’t respond to the worry in my voice; he responded to the sound of a treat box being shaken.
Some days I wonder if the only reason cats aren’t extinct is their purring.

I hope he comes back soon, Joelle. Cats always do that. They just up and leave without any warning!

Ever since his brother passed away 2 1/2 years ago. he has been “kitty glue.” Just recently, he started to explore again. By that, I mean he will lay on the floor with the dogs just like he used to do.
If he continues to explore to the point he is hunting outdoors again, I’ll have to check my bed for rabbit and rodent gifts. Not looking forward to that — but I’m VERY happy to have him back on my desk.

I hope he turns up soon. Yikes. Not exactly the gifts one would hope for. But still I know you’ll be glad to have him back.

He responded to a box of treats being shaken, not to my constant calling or my desperation to find him. No…it was treats. 😻

I’m glad he’s back! Even though you had to bribe him with treats 😀

It took the sound of a box of greenies being shaken for him to meow at me and come through the front door. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner.

He was neutered when he was 9 months old. More likely is that I was giving the dogs attention and he was having a snit. 😊

Hope he’s OK Joelle.

He’s presently trying to swat at my mouse and push it on the floor — so I know he’s okay. 😊

I’m sorry to read that, I hope he comes back soon. Our cats do that too. not sure why they do that, or do they simply hide? and check how long we are searching? these Cats 😼

If you have a cat, and that cat disappears, you can do what I did in desperation: Shake his treat box.
He’s home and owns my desk once again.

We have the local gang war here, my cat disappears for a day, then come back hurt, not sure if he won. I take it he won,he usually come back😄 a strong cat, but.not good for fight it seems, as I still see his opponent walking around my house healthy 😂.

They can be so infuriating. Cats are very territorial, and that territory is wherever their tiny cat minds think it should be — whether or not a lion lives there.

Very true, sometimes they fight under my car, and the noise totally freak us out early in the morning like 2 am. They don’t care how much fish we give, it’s their territory and they fight for it. Just simple cat things 😂😼

After I wrote this post, with tears, I had an epiphany. He loves his treats. So….I shook the treat box and called his name.
Nothing…for a few minutes. Then, I heard meowing over the sound of the window fan. I turned it off, and he continued to meow, so I shook the treat box and went to the front door where Mr. Chilly Coon Kitty sauntered in through the dog door as if nothing major had happened.
Yes, he got a treat.

“Cats, it’s seems, are God’s personification of sarcasm.” Too true. Nothing is more devastating than having a cat yawn at you, clearly bored!

They can be both a solace and a sore spot. Sometimes within minutes of each other. 😊
