Political overflow
In the USA, it seems no matter what your party affiliation, around election time there are 100 emails a day, all from people begging you for money.
The “POOPIE” party is out to get us and money is pouring in. If they out raise us they’re going to win!
And then you see the ads for the “other side.”
The “LOOPIE” party is out to get us and money is pouring in. If they out raise us they’re going to win!
It’s like they both use the same advertising agency.
“Unsubscribe” from one, and another shows up in its place.
It reminds me of a game I once played: Whack-A-Mole.
If I gave $1.00 to every politician out there who is sending me an email, I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills.
To all in the blog-o-sphere who don’t live in a dictatorship — or don’t think you live in a dictatorship:
1. Do you have the same problem around election time?
2. Do their email ads make any difference in the way you vote?
1. I don’t pay close enough attention to my email… So I don’t know if I get those.
2. Email ads would not impact the way I vote. I’m a rare bird who goes out and researches all sides of an issue before I form an opinion. Same thing with voting. I do research instead of relying on ads.

I’m with you on #2! Definitely do research.
For #1, I have too many family members spread out across the USA and that is how we communicate most of the time. We can “visit” when we’re ready,we don’t have to fumble for what to say — and don’t have to drop everything to run to the phone.

Yes. Email is good for that

2. No

Short, and to the point. 🙂
It might be advantageous for politicians to have a poll asking those two questions and adding a 3rd: “Are you less likely to vote for someone who inundates your email with ads begging for money?”

Well, we get fined if we don’t vote in Australia. Yes, get emails, and delete. And everyone has an opinion in politics these days. Even idiots. Wake me when its over? (Check your email?) Cheers,H

You’re forced to vote? Is there a place where you can choose “none of the above?”

I don’t ever get any of those kind of emails. But it’s taken great expertise to make that happen! lol

I don’t have that expertise. If the delete button were real instead of virtual, I would have worn it out by now. 🙂
