Soul searching
If my sense of humor were a car, the gas tank would be empty.
I’m stuck on the expressway of life with 4 flat tires, 1 spare, and 7 dogs inside who are furiously barking to get out so they can chase all the speeding vehicles.
Well…my life isn’t quite that dramatic.
I’m tired, I have no energy to spare, and a couple of my dogs are escape artists who think it’s great fun to race down the dirt road in front of my home.

One of the offending dogs — after she rolled in mud and took over my bed
And so, today, desperately searching for inspiration, I opened Annette Rochelle Aben’s angel message.
Instead of the usual, “You will have a great day,” I get this:
You CAN BE HAPPY or RIGHT!
Why can’t I have both?
All I want is for my dogs to be happy with a dog door they can go in and out of any time they choose, and 2 acres of fenced-in land.
That, and to find a publisher.
But, alas, I digress.
There is really no easy solution to this problem, and I am definitely NOT happy.
Has anyone in the blog-o-sphere experienced this problem and solved it?
I was having ‘one of those days’ so I went back to bed. Best sleep ever!

Probably the best advice at the moment.

Caring for my 23 year old son who has schizophrenia and I have bi-polar etc a ginger cat next door that manages to break in through a microchip cat flap, eats all Spikes dinner then gets as far under my bed ( which has a big cupboard underneath) one of Spikes favourite spots. Spike who decides to run away out the back lane then seagulls dive bomb him and poo on him. Won’t go on but guess we’re both looking for a stress free life whatever that means.😸😻🐾🐾

I feel very sorry for Spike. Sad to say, Houdini cat sounds like a great candidate for a trip to an animal control shelter.

We have two small Jack Russell crosses. Our neighbour (shared, gated drive) has a bull mastiff on springs. Our fences and gates are over six foot high and reinforced at the bottom with chicken wire, with a moat (all right, a drainage dike) around two sides of our joint properties.
But terriers dig…

Yes, I have often called my dogs “diggies.” They are experts at digging holes 3 feet deep in a matter of minutes.
It has taken a long time to put things in the holes that keep them from digging out again. Now, they climb over the fence. I hadn’t run into that problem before, and looked it up on-line. There are YouTube videos of dogs doing this. 😦

Police dogs are trained to do it. My smallest dog (4 months) has to climb to reach the sofa (I think he’s crossed with a dachshund). I just hope he doesn’t realise the same technique would work with the fences.

The first time you see it, you’re standing there — mouth open — watching the travesty. 🙂

I think everyone has had days like that, but everyone’s problems have different causes.
In my experience, that feeling of listlessness and low energy is usually either too much refined sugar or not enough sleep (or sometimes working too hard).
I don’t envy you trying to find a publisher — though you’re ahead of most of us since you’ve apparently had a book published already.

I’m one of those people who will go back to work and still type with a fractured wrist (I did that when I was 20). However, I worry a lot about dogs and cats. 🙂
The 3 published books were Indie through Amazon. Low energy is due to lack of sleep and if thyroid levels are too low.

We haven’t had a dog in our house for almost one and a half years. This has been a long stretch for us, since we’ve always had dogs. We decided it was best to not go through the puppy stage again, nor the maintenance required for a pet at our age, but I sure do miss our dog. There is so much happiness that can be found in them if we just look for it. My troubles seem so small in comparison to others. As I’ve been unhappy through this crisis of daily living, I find it helps to put things in perspective and to thank God for the things I have, rather than the things I lack.

My life is good: Writing, a great job, good health. What I worry about are the bad things that not only can happen to dogs, but do happen to them.
There are dog fighting rings in the area who go out and look for stray dogs. We have a “neighbor” whom, I’m told, has already run over 3 of the dogs they had (one of those people who has to tear out of the driveway and if anything is behind him it’s their problem).

That’s horrible. I’m sorry you have this going on in your area.

Dog fighting is bad in many states. People just don’t hear about it.
