Anyone else…
My apologies in advance: This post contains no humor. Migraines seem to suck that right out of a person.
Anyone else get amnesia about migraine symptoms when one is coming on?
In this case, it was an a-typical vestibular migraine.
- I haven’t had one of those in years, and
- as the word a-typical states, it’s not the usual migraine where one side of the head is in serious pain.
For the past month, headaches varying from mild to sharp vascillated from front to the top of the head, back of the head and both temples. Then, my glasses didn’t seem to fit right and my right eye felt swollen. Tinnitus started to increase.
Sensitivity to sound started a week ago.
The “visual snow” began the night before. I opened my eyes at night and it was like confetti roiling on the ceiling.
Dizziness began yesterday morning — ever so slightly. I was bending and fell onto the bed. But I’m a klutz most of the time anyway, so I dismissed it.
At work, it was hard to concentrate.
Last night, the nystagmus was terrible. I couldn’t get off the bed to stand because of vertigo.
Migraine meds are helping — not the OTC, but the prescription variety.
The last time it hit, it lasted for months.
I’m doing all right at the moment — there’s only a slight dizziness.
With a-typical vestibular migraine, one never knows what tomorrow will bring.
That is scary. Please take care Joelle, Glad that you feel better now. Take good care of yourself. I recently have this phonophobia and get anxious whenever my phone rings or vibrates also to any sudden noise is really annoying. after lockdown I hav to chk wid my doctor first thing. Thanks for this post, I was wondering why I was getting anxious with all these sounds, they have a name it seems. It will be good to tell my doctor. Take care of yourself Joelle✨ You’ll recover very soon 👍

Thanks. 🙂
Had I not experienced all those things before and somewhere in my brain I knew it wasn’t serious, I would have been running to the doctor about it.
It’s more frightening that my brain would create an amnesia about the cause of the problem.

Sorry about this, Joelle. I have a friend who suffers from migraines since she got organo-phosphate poisoning. Often, she needs an injection, which knocks her out so she loses a day of her life each time. Hope you feel better soon.

I’ve had an injection before — when I was visiting my daughter and had a full-blown right side migraine. Now I know that altitude and changes in air pressure trigger my migraines.

So sorry, I hope it is short lived

It would be nice to know if anyone else goes through migraines and then forgets the symptoms as they are happening.

My sympathies are with her. Migraines are like childbirth: Unless you’ve been through it, no one can explain it to you. 🙂

About the same as an of the millions of people who get migraines have been through. There are some debilitating conditions that affect people every single day of their lives.
Migraines hit once in a while. The usual kind is easy to spot — eye pain that feels like something is squeezing your eye and the right or left side of your head feels as if it wants to explode. If detected early enough, it can be warded off.
The a-typical vestibular migraine isn’t as predictable — but I should have been able to spot the problem long before now.

I do remember having a headache so bad it made me throw up after chaperoning a class of sixth graders on a field trip to the theater. LOL

I hope it doesn’t continue for too long Joelle. I had a bad migraine many years ago and ended up having a doc come to the house. He gave me a thorough check over then a jab in the bum which he said would knock me flat for about 3 days. It did, but I needed help to get to and from the bathroom . Take care

The medication in the past 10 years has vastly improved. It actually gets rid of the problem instead of giving you something to sleep through it.
I pity those who had to suffer through them and had day jobs during the 20th century.
