“The human race reminds me of a fool walking along a precipice,” my father said. “He falls and lands on the only tree growing out of the cliff.”
I once asked mom, “Why does he have to be so negative all the time?”
“He’s dying,” she said. “Agent orange is taking him away from us.”
I’d remembered his words as we stood on the deck of our family’s boat to throw his ashes into the sea. Sunny days, a soft breeze, calm waters, and whiskey were his solace.
Fifty years after his death, I’d never visited the ocean again.
So real ✨👌 Nice one Joelle◕‿◕. Have a wonderful weekend ✨💐

Thanks. 🙂
Do you have weekends, or do you have to work? My job depends upon the amount that has to be done each month.

Same here, There is no weekend, it’s actually work all days, they expect us to work for 15 hours a day, they don’t care where you are, office/home. I have that little machine in my bag called laptop 😂!

Remote work means if it’s 3 in the morning and you can’t sleep, you can work. 🙂
Your job sounds intense!

It’s hard to convey in 99 words the lives of people I’ve known — children who lived with parents broken by their experiences who never return to the point of their pain.
Thank you for letting me know this was conveyed.

Thanks you for letting me know the sentiment came through. It was tough to get all the elements into 99 words.

Deep waters were not calm — you kept the tumultous waters buried between the lines to give a fuller story. well done.

Uisce beatha; and so we return. Or not in this case. That’s a poignant tale.

I had to look up Uisce beatha to find out it was a blended Irish whiskey. Very insightful.
