“You take too many vitamins,” hubby scoffed, watching me wash them down with Rooibos tea.
Grunting from the strain of standing upright, he held onto the table for support. As usual, he left his soda can and potato chip wrappers for me to throw away.
“I have yoga at 10:00 today,” I said joyfully. “I’m walking with Lois, and grocery shopping after that. I’ll be home around 4:00.”
“You’re 70! Grow up!”
“A person either grows up or gives up,” I replied. “Don’t chastise me for choosing to nurture my body. Ask yourself why you chose to destroy yours.”
This is good.

Any food nourishes the body, but only some foods also nourish the soul.

Food has been tampered with.
I read an article years ago by a man who became a professor. He was working for the company that makes a very popular cookie and knew that one of the ingredients in the cookie suppressed the ability for people to feel full. He quit because they knew why they were putting it into their food (to sell more of it) and he couldn’t ethically continue to work for them.

I once interviewed a couple who were younger than these characters but in a similar situation. She was a nutritionist and he a chemist. Every night when he came home, he’d head downstairs to his personal soda machine and load up on Mountain Dew. On Valentine’s Day, he was diagnosed with diabetes. She still has the box of chocolates she bought for him. After several months of dieting to get his blood sugars under control, he said he’d rather die than never have ice cream again. So they invented a sugar-free ice cream that uses stevia instead of aspartame and he created a recipe using his chemist knowledge. It’s Luv Ice Cream, all-natural, out of this world delicious and sugar-free. The happy ending is that this couple found a way!
