Question and Answer

Question: If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?
.
Answer: What kind of ridiculous question is that? Of course it makes a sound! We’re not the only animals in the universe with eardrums to hear the crash.”
.
Question: Does it really make a sound, or is this a construct that exists only when we observe it?
.
Answer: Are you daft? Any parent with a pregnant teenage girl can answer that one.
.
Question: I do not follow your logic.
.
Answer: If frogs are mating in a forest and a human isn’t there to watch them do it, can they really have a baby?
.
Question: You believe it is the same thing?
.
Answer: If no one is around to watch the sperm go into the egg, can it really make a baby? Of course it can, numbnuts!
.
Question: But they are observing it together.
..
Answer: If one person watched a tree fall and heard the sound, would anyone believe it?
.
Question: Why do you ask?
.
Answer: What species in their right mind is so arrogant that an event couldn’t possibly have happened unless they saw, heard, or felt it? If a question doesn’t ask a question, is it really a question? What? No answer?

.
ME: Would you both SHUT UP already? I’m trying to sleep.
.
Question: Did the tree say something?
.
ME: I’m a human, not a tree, and neither of you exist! You’re simply my D@*%&d mind talking to itself!!
.
Question: If we believe we exist and a human says we don’t, do we make a sound?
.
Answer: Good question.

I’ve often wondered if insomnia was God’s way of saying, “I’m trying to tell you something! Listen!”
Unfortunately, I’m still a poor listener. 🙂

Hilarious! I think I should mention I understand the concept is from some philosopher-type, and troubled comedians quote it. A version was also recently quoted on the show criminal minds.

It is a very famous philosophy question, and astute for its time. People love making fun of it, but at its roots (don’t forgive the pun) there is a lot to think about. So many branches of thought — it leaves you wondering. 🙂
