JOELLE’S TALES: FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH #TMAT120 #WRITING #PROMPT FOR JUNE 6, 2019
PLEASE participate
It’s not like I’m asking you to tap dance Flight Of The Bumblebee when you’re deathly ill.
TELL ME A TALE IN (EXACTLY) 120 WORDS
Welcome to JUNE 6!
Today’s prompt is: A strange thing that happened to you when you were sick.
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, I’ll share a vignette with you:
<_><_><_>
Being sick is no fun and strange things can happen.
I nearly choked on my yogurt when I found out that I’d missed posting #TMAT120 for TWO MONTHS!
Worst of all, I lost my sense of smell in April when I was sick for an entire month. I’m blind without my ability to detect a molecule of dung from 100 feet away.
Do you know what happens when you have 7 dogs and a bad thunderstorm? They forget there’s a dog door and use the floor as a bathroom. Once, if one tiny turd hit the floor, I’d be scrubbing. But for the past 3 months, I can walk by 3 piles of the stuff and not know it’s there.
Here are the rules:
-
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. It ends on the 1st Thursday of the next month.
-
Copy and paste your 120 word entry into the reply section below, along with a link to your blog. To me, everyone who enters is a winner, but if you must have a winner, the entry with the most likes wins.
-
Limit your #TMAT120 post to 120 words. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
-
When/if you publish your entry on your blog, use the #TMAT120 picture to show that you are participating in the prompt. Please don’t alter (except for size).
-
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. They’ll be edited out if you do, and you might not like the words I choose to replace them with. 🙂
-
Take time to read other people’s #TMAT120 & their posts, after all you might make a new friend.

I thought you were finally teaching your dogs, hoping that they will start cleaning after themselves not wanting to live in…

Thought I’d missed them! I overshot last time so have used the on-line counter thingy and numbers included, it registers as 120 words.

Voila:
I’m not sick very often, but back in 1975, it was thought I had glandular fever and I was off work for five weeks.
The boyfriend was very good and came to visit every evening, but there were no snuggles and cuddles in case he caught whatever I had.
However, I got a craving for two things.
Despite a sore throat and sensation of swallowing broken glass, the only thing I was able to keep down was gingernut biscuits. Mum was buying them by the box.
The second was jigsaw puzzles, and I completed the biggest I’d ever attempted, which was 3000 pieces. When it was finished, it was put under the bed, but never got round to being framed.

I know what you mean about the cravings.
It’s quite an accomplishment to put together a 3000 piece puzzle when your life is already in 5000 pieces.

That certainly belongs in the annals of extreme dreaming while sick.
