TELL ME A TALE IN (EXACTLY) 120 WORDS
Welcome to MARCH 7!
Today’s prompt is: A funny event in your life.
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, I’ll share a vignette with you:

It was summer, 1981. My son, a talkative 5-year-old, loved comic books…and Superman was one of his favorites.
He begged to see Superman II, but it was an adult movie, and I had to consider the comfort of 300 people in a crowded theater.
I warned him, “You can go with me, but you can’t say a word during the movie!”
Adults sat on the edges of our chairs, drinking in the scene between Clark Kent and Lois Lane we’d all been waiting for since the first movie in 1978.
He poured out wine, looked longingly in her eyes…and the entire theater was silent.
Without warning, my son yelled, “Super juice!”
The entire theater roared out in laughter.

The challenge sounds fun –
I will put it on my list to rotate in to my blog posts (because I do not post a super lot (by choice and to just keep things in bakance) I have to rotate challenges – but this one sounds fun!

Side note tho – I don’t think the most likes should win – because it is not fair – and in my experience there are a lot of fantastic authors on WP and many of their readers never click like – or they do not have a big following yet – so I am not sure I like the most likes part

I love reading everyone’s take on the prompt, and I agree.
I put the “most likes” thing in there as a way to show that this is supposed to be a fun way to share something about yourself in a writing exercise and not a 1st-2nd-3rd place competition. There are blogs that decide the winner via a poll. Sometimes the “winner” doesn’t have the same quality (in my mind) as people at the bottom of the poll. After a while, you just stop participating.

I’ve tried several different “challenges.” Mine is only once a month, most are once a week. The weekly ones are the most successful, but my energy level won’t allow for that kind of stress. 🙂

At the time, I was so shocked, I didn’t know what to do. Then, when everyone started to laugh I did, too. The timing was so perfect.

This happened 36 years ago and won a Radio 1 Tee-hee mug.
We were teaching the boys the highway code, the youngest aged 6, typically not interested and thought he knew it all.
So we tested him and asked what to do when you wanted to cross the road.
“You stop at the kerb and look right,” he said tiredly.
We nodded our approval.
“Then you look left.” he said.
Again we nodded for him to continue.
He sighed.
“You look right again, and if it’s all clear, you cross over.”
“That’s right. Well done!” his Dad said beaming proudly.
“But what do you do if there’s something coming?”
The kid looked him straight in the eye and said
“You get knocked down”.

I had a similar thing happen with my daughter at the movies seeing some kids film. All of a sudden she said in a quiet part of the film quite loudly, “I have to go to the bathroom!” Immediately fifty kids plus their parents stood up making their way to the aisles!

My oldest grandson learned that it was my birthday, and he was happy to come over and have cake and ice cream. He was eight years old at the time. As I opened gifts, he came over and sat down next to me, as excited about the presents as I was.
Then, he asked me how old I was. I told him that I was 40! He immediately looked scared, and with tears in his eyes, he asked, “Are you going to die?” Everybody laughed, thinking it a silly question. But I realized that to his young mind, 40 was ancient. Taking him in my arms, I assured him that I wasn’t going to die. He and I still laugh about it.

I’ve had the experience of comforting children who were upset the moment that realization hit. 40 is a landmark birthday, and it seems two people had an ephiphany that day.
