“Dr. Michael Arden?” The young woman with a recorder asked, “Why did you become a scientist?”
Should I remind the world? Why not? “You do realize this is a funeral and we’re standing in front of my mother’s casket?”
“You’re a hard man to corner for an interview.”
“My mother believed in magic, used a cauldron and thought she could talk to fairies.”
Wide eyed, she gasped, “Your mother was a witch?”
“If you could read, you would know why,” I scoffed at her. “Mother was schizophrenic! MAGIC is nothing but an acronym for mentally addled gullible insecure citizen.”
I think you were trying to say something here…lol…I’ll wave my wand and see if I can change your attitude.

The gullibility of the reporter is humorous. Great tensions and observations wrapped up in one rant-flash of 99 words.

This reminds me of my real-life grandmother. She speaks with dead people in her mirror, likely due to schizophrenia.

At one time in history long past, people with schizophrenia were revered. How times have changed. 🙂
After looking at what sanity means to different nations around the world, I’ve come to the conclusion that every person on the face of the Earth is insane by the time they’re 5 years old. The definition of sanity, as it is in beauty, is determined by the majority in any culture.

Your scientist definitely silenced the reporter – that’s my guess for the ‘rest of the story.’ Well done!

How sad for Dr. Michael Arden to not have any magic in his life. He a villainous feel to him. Nicely written.

I love writing about charactersalive or dead, who don’t seem to be particularly “all there.”
