“Lilly! You MUST come to visit!” Angelina cooed. “Manhattan is fabulous in spring.”
“I don’t like all that concrete.”
“We’ll go to the forests for a bit of Shinrin Yoko…”
Lilly remembered her high school friend; talentless beauty who’d married “Mr. Filthyrich.” The woman was always looking for a way to show her superiority. As Angelina talked, Lilly researched the name.
I’m looking out at a forest, the scents of wild rose and pine wafting through my window. Angelina, I live in the midst of Shinrin Yoko.”
“You live in a shack!”
“So,” Lilly asked. “I’m a best-selling writer.”
Lucky you I say….

There is nothing like living in the countryside, but it would be nice to have a best seller. 🙂

A nice response to this prompt. I think this one is a bit difficult.

I agree. I thought the prompt would be about dental, and was very surprised to see forest bathing.

I enjoyed the realization that the narrator might not have the cosmopolitan setting or Mr. FilthyRich, but she has it all!

It’s all a matter of perception. 🙂
It was a lot of fun to write.

Most of us write because it’s part of us. We can find something awful about anything in our lives, but focusing on the happy helps us to get through the other stuff. 🙂

I just love the ending line! 🙂 The whole piece, too, but the ending does add that funny side to it which makes you want to read it again.

I suppose that, for both, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

A maid, perhaps? 🙂
Seriously, as long as there is power going to the computer and people aren’t beating a path to her door, it’s all good.
