JOELLE’S TALES: FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH #TMAT120 #WRITING #PROMPT FOR DECEMBER
MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES.
Writing over 57,000 words during NaNoWriMo has left me drain bed…uh…Brain dread…hmmm…I think I mean Rain Read…
It’s almost Christmas. I think I have a bad case of Al’s Chimers.
Not only did I miss publishing the posts for November’s Writers of the #TMAT120, I forgot to write one for December!!!
Until now — at 9:00PM — which is already Friday in South Africa.
TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to December 7 Today’s prompt is: Your worst Christmas.
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, here’s a little about why I both dislike and love the holiday season:
More than anything, I wanted a bicycle for Christmas. I imagined it sparkling next to the tree, waiting for me to ride it, the sounds of Christmas carols playing on our radio. I’m not sure of my age, at least seven but no more than nine, just the exhilaration of awakening to the sounds of family rustling around the kitchen.
I bounded down the hallway, my joy melting at the sight of a shiny blue bike.
“That’s not yours,” my sister said. She smiled, pointing out a smaller one.
Repainted and cleaned, my sibling’s former bicycle stood behind her new one.
“I don’t want that thing!” I yelled out, wishing I could throw it as far north as possible: Georgia.
Here are the rules:
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. It ends on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
I will copy and paste every post and publish it on the last Thursday of the month. Or maybe the 2nd to the last Thursday. It depends upon a lot of factors (such as forgetting to do it until the last week of the month).
Limit your #TMAT120 post to 120 words and a link to the #TMAT site. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
Use this picture above to show that you are participating in the #TMAT120. Please don’t alter (except for size).
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. Only lazy writers use variations of the F word for shock “value.”
Copy and paste the URL in the reply section below, or you can do a pingback if you have a WordPress blog.
Take time to read other people’s posts, after all it’s only 120 words. And you might make a new friend.
