JOELLE’S TALES: FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH #TMAT120 #WRITING #PROMPT FOR NOVEMBER
TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to November 2 Today’s prompt is: Why you love, or dislike, the holiday season.
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, here’s a little about why I both dislike and love the holiday season:
For me, it’s a little of both. Halloween used to be my favorite holiday. Once, I dressed as Princes Leia to pick up husband #3 at the airport. He couldn’t understand why some strange woman in a mask kept moving in front of him.
When he ordered, “Move!”
I said, “Don’t talk to your wife like that.”
He burst out laughing.
However, I liked vampire costumes the best.
I began to dislike the holidays when ads for Christmas started around Halloween. People forget that you’re supposed to have fun on Halloween, give thanks for all you have at Thanksgiving, and celebrate the loving spirit most people feel around Christmas.
It was never meant to be a giant exercise in consumerism.
Here are the rules:
-
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. For example: 12:01am to 11:59pm January 5th. It ends on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
-
I will copy and paste every post and publish it on the last Thursday of the month. Or maybe the 2nd to the last Thursday. It depends upon a lot of factors (such as forgetting to do it until the last week of the month).
-
Limit your #TMAT120 post to 120 words and a link to the #TMAT site. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
-
Use this picture above to show that you are participating in the #TMAT120. Please don’t alter (except for size).
-
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. Only lazy writers use variations of the F word for shock “value.”
-
Copy and paste the URL in the reply section below, or you can do a pingback if you have a WordPress blog.
-
Take time to read other people’s posts, after all it’s only 120 words. And you might make a new friend.

I was walking through Dollar Tree where the Halloween candy was on one side of the aisle and Thanksgiving & Christmas decorations were on the other side. Nothing says it better than that. How I wished I’d had a camera.

Living in a tourist area, I can sympathize with your dilemma. Glad you found a place close enough to the water but far enough away from most of the chaos 🙂

Poole is my home town and that was the worst as if I timed it wrong, shopping, work or even going to the bank was a nightmare and run of the gauntlet. Here the hustle and bustle is about a mile away, but arriving at the end of the season is an advantage.
