South Florida, 1960’s, the sanitation engineers (aka garbage men) went on strike for a month. Papers were easy to stack, and they didn’t stink. That couldn’t be said for potato peelings.
“I’ll bury them under the lime tree next to the dog,” Mom said. “You can help.”
“Don’t you remember what happened the last time I tried to garden something?”
“Yes,” she frowned. “You have a singular talent…you can kill anything that grows.”
The tree grew twice as tall in a year, fruit bending its branches. Limeade every day for a month is not exactly my kind of harvest.
You grow limes, at least! Ha, ha! Ah, the sweeter fruits are overrated…so I hear. 😉 Fun take on the prompt, Joelle!

But key lime pie is a harvest I could live with all the time!

I have a key lime tree in my back yard and make key lime pie quite often in the winter. 🙂

Even a garden killer can grow things with a bit of compost. Fun story.

My best strategy is to ignore the plant. That’s the only way it has a chance to live. 🙂

There are other ways to use lime…
Like your take. I put (clean) eggshells in my potted plants.
But I don’t have a garden area.
I should have a compost place, I have room. I’m waiting for my sons to build it… could be a while.

I know what you mean. 🙂 If it interests your children, it will get done.

They are out of the home coop now…with their own busy lives. Maybe I can get them together to gift me with such for a birthday present? I just need a few skids nailed together on three sides…

I have the same problem with my son — but my daughter is always there to help without asking. I think it’s a woman thing. 🙂

Having only sons… Maybe I’ll just have to plant the seed to reap the harvest …

Sounds good, too. 🙂

Amusing story. Why is it that things you wish wouldn’t, grow, and things you wish would, don’t? Reverse harvest.
