JOELLE’S TALES: FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH #TMAT120 #WRITING #PROMPT FOR SEPTEMBER
TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to September 7 Today’s prompt is: Your favorite season of the year and why.
So that you don’t feel so alone in your embarrassment, here’s a little about my favorite season:
Everyone who reads my blog knows that my comfort zone is between 85F and 95F with 70% humidity.
My favorite season is summer, and in my part of Florida, that usually lasts from June until mid-October.
The heat is glorious, but there are two more reasons I love summer: Color and scent.
I love to open my door on a balmy summer evening to take in the scent of 4’0clocks planted on either side of the entrance. Each time I inhale an aroma better than a rose, it brings a feeling of peace over my entire body.
Walking near my work, residences in the small rural city proliferate with magnolias, azaleas, hibiscus, jasmine and honeysuckle; a veritable casserole of scents.
Here are the rules:
-
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. For example: 12:01am to 11:59pm September 7th. It ends on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
-
I will publish each entry by the end of the month, with a link to your blog.
-
Your #TMAT120 post needs to be 120 words — no more, no less. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
-
Use the picture above to show that you are participating in the #TMAT120. Please don’t alter (except for size).
-
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. Only lazy writers use variations of the F word for shock “value.”
-
Copy and paste the URL in the reply section below, or you can do a pingback if you have a WordPress blog.
-
Take time to read other people’s posts, after all it’s only 120 words. And you might make a new friend.

I’m presently in one of the areas of Florida that is expecting Hurricane Irma to come for a visit. I might be a little late getting to #TMAT120 writers today. Heading out the door to work, then back home to do more preparations.

That nice big house of yours looks like it could take on anything! But still be careful and keep all the furry kids inside and safe of course. 😊

They don’t like to get their dainty feet wet. My biggest concern will be to keep the floor pee-free. 🙂

Are you in south Florida and on one of the coasts?

North Florida, mid-state. 🙂 It’s one of the top 10 places in Florida that’s safest against hurricanes.

Thanks. No one knows where the storm is going yet, so it’s all guess work until she begins to turn north.

Winter is my favourite season.
There is that wee bit chill in the air, especially in the early mornings, you feel the slight moistness in the air; the soil, if you care to touch leaves you with a tangy wetty feeling.
And soon enough the sky above changes hues, quickly going from bright red to mauve, to mahagony and a hybrid orangish, magenta, pink mix.
Leisurely mornings are best savoured lying tucked in bed under the comfort of heavy silk blankets while biting into hot samosas and pakoras dipped in green chutneys, sipping hot Darjeeling tea in crystal glasses while locking horns with crosswords and sudokus.
This is one season that I never whine about but instead always pine for.

I’m smiling at “…tucked in bed under the comfort of heavy silk blankets…” That is one of the softer sides of winter. 🙂
I went to your post and it wasn’t 120 words, then I found exactly 120 words in this reply. Thanks for being to first of the iceberg brigade to speak up for winter. 🙂
