Joelle’s tales: First Thursday of the month #TMAT120 #writing #prompt for May
Please join in! I’d love to hear from you!
TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to May 4 Today’s prompt is: Your earliest memory
So that you don’t feel alone in your embarrassment, here’s the story of my earliest memory.
My earliest memory happened around the age of one, before the 2-lane street in front of our home morphed into an 8-lane highway.
My sister walked with my mother to the local stores, but I was relegated to a stroller. Later in my life, I’d know the trek spanned 5 blocks that totaled a half mile. McCrory’s, Sears, and other larger stores were in shopping centers facing each other. This is where my earliest memory begins.
I remember the sounds of their voices, but I was too young to understand the words. I can still close my eyes and feel fear. I still see the wheels of the stroller bumping against the cracks in a sidewalk that badly needed repair.
Here are the rules:
-
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. For example: 12:01am to 11:59pm May 4th. It ends on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
-
I will publish the tales and links to your blog the 2nd Thursday.
-
Limit your #TMAT120 post to 120 words and a link to the #TMAT site. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
-
Use this picture above to show that you are participating in the #TMAT120. Please don’t alter (except for size).
-
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. Only lazy writers use variations of the F word for shock “value.”
-
Copy and paste the URL in the reply section below, or you can do a pingback if you have a WordPress blog.
-
Take time to read other people’s posts, after all it’s only 120 words. And you might make a new friend.

Hmmm, I have to think about this one for myself (too old!)…but I bet my daughter’s would be when she dropped her binky out of the stroller in the street and when we went to look for it a car had run over it smashing it. No more binky! 🙂 That was how she got weaned from it. She was awesome. She just said, oh, ok, car smashed it, done. Easy peasy!! 😛

A perfect 120 words!
I love it when you can prove people wrong who say, “That never happened.” 🙂
