Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka #Poetry Challenge #16 – BLOOM & LATE

daughter, mom, and son 1997
Bittersweet goodbye.
Children wandering away,
blossoms of your soul.
They burst forth into the world.
Too late! My tears cannot stop.

Been there done that, do not want to do it again. Irrelevant this, but I saw the “I write like Charles Dickens badge” at the bottom of this, so I had to try it myself. We should team up. It said I write like Bram Stoker! Really?

I thought it was funny, too (It was so far from the truth). It’s according to the text you enter. The next time I entered text, it said I wrote like Steven King.

I was hoping for Ernest Hemingway. Maybe I should just keep trying! Maybe I should just type in some Hemingway? I was tempted but never tried the “Which Jane Austin character are you” test–for numerous reasons!

Yes, my daughter is in her final year at University… how the time flies. Remember her first day away so well. Still have my youngest at home, it will be so quiet here when they have all left home…

The empty nest is very hard at first. After all, in our minds we still see the toddler rushing out to discover the world.

You’re so right. Miss them being little but happy to see them making their way in the world.
