Joelle’s tales: (COMING SOON) First Thursday of the month #TMAT120 #writing #prompt
I’m starting out the new year with a monthly writing challenge:
Please let me know if this challenge interests you or how I can make it better.
Feel free to write the prompt and follow directions.
TELL ME A TALE IN 120 WORDS
Welcome to (First Thursday of the month).
Today’s prompt is: Your year (2016) in a nutshell.
Here are the rules:
-
A prompt for #TMAT120 will be given the first Thursday of every month. The prompt challenge begins whenever it’s that day in your time zone. For example: 12:01am to 11:59pm January 5th. It ends on the 2nd Thursday of the month.
-
I will chose one each month that I like the best and highlight it the next month. It will be the one I liked the best, but not necessarily the one an editor or anyone else would like best. ☺
-
Limit your #TMAT120 post to 120 words and a link to the #TMAT site. People who participate in limited-word prompts aren’t expecting a 1,000 word explanation before it begins.
-
Use this picture above to show that you are participating in the #TMAT120. Please don’t alter (except for size).
-
Please don’t use hard-core curse words. Only lazy writers use variations of the F word for shock “value.”
-
Copy and paste the URL in the reply section below, or you can do a pingback if you have a WordPress blog.
-
Take time to read other people’s posts, after all it’s only 120 words. And you might make a new friend.

Joelle, so this prompt begins today and should be posted by next Thursday, correct?

Yes. I’m trying something new and will be learning along the way.
I’m asking for advice from anyone who has hosted a prompt, and once I get my “sea legs” I may change things around a bit.
I’d be honored if you’d give it a try. 🙂

I came back to reread and write on the prompt but I don’t have a twitter account. Is there a way that I can still participate?

On WordPress, you can write the entire 120 words into the reply, if you’d like, too. 🙂

I will try to figure out the twitter thing again and begin next week. I don’t know what else I have to tweet about. I will probably be back for a tutorial lol! 🙂

Forget all about Twitter. I don’t use twitter much, I just put hashtags so it will show up on twitter, too. I feel like a turtle trying to cross the L.A. freeway every time I go on twitter. 🙂
You can copy and paste what you wrote and put it into the reply on WordPress.

I feel the same way 🙂 I will begin with next week’s topic. I’m looking forward to doing some reading and writing on WP this weekend. My year has really been one that I’ve lived on my own terms for probably the first time in my life. I considered my mother’s advice carefully this year. “You have two choices in life: make a plan for your own life or become part of someone else’s plan.” I had to walk away from a lot of liars, screamers, and vampires to do that but I’m not ready to elaborate in cyberspace :). WordPress will become a smaller world for me this year. I hope you still will be part of it.
