#cats #haiku The Phantom Cat
Purrs comfort my heart.
Lingering after he leaves,
the phantom cat sleeps.
This morning, as I lay on my side contemplating why I couldn’t sleep, Coon Cat draped over my shoulder. His purrs sent me drifting back.
I slowly floated up from a restful night, thinking he still covered my shoulders, so comfortable I didn’t want to move.
Just as we don’t question dream world as it unfolds, neither did I question the obvious. Coon Cat weighs 20 pounds, but my shoulders felt so light.
And at that moment, the phantom disappeared.
