Coffeegrounded and FloridaBorne
After several days fighting off strep with antibiotics that would choke a horse, I am back among the living (sort of).
Coffeegrounded and I planned to meet on Saturday, but my daughter would’ve had to peel me out of bed and carry me into the restaurant. It wasn’t that we were concerned someone might mistake me for a dead body and call a coroner, but that I would pass along strep to a whole bunch of people who didn’t deserve that level of bacterial hell.
We were going to meet 1/2 way between Dallas and Oklahoma City. Instead, one of the kindest people I know drove 2 1/2 hours to meet me at a Pandera in OKC.
This was the first time we met in person. We sipped on soup and talked for 3 hours as if we were old friends.
Kudos to my daughter, who sat alone for 3 hours with her Iphone, periodically checking to see if I was all right or if we needed anything. I have the best daughter a mother could ever want!
The next time I visit my daughter in OKC, we plan to make a special trip down to Dallas…and next time, I’m buying lunch. 🙂
If you have the chance to meet other bloggers, I highly recommend it. Thanks again, Coffeegrounded, for going above and beyond the Texas border.
On behalf of all of us who weren’t exposed to strep: THANK YOU! Your daughter sounds like a special kiddo. I never thought about meeting fellow bloggers. Thanks for the intriguing idea!

What a wonderful day it was! I wouldn’t have missed meeting this sweet soul for anything. She was one of the first bloggers I came to know when I discovered that WordPress was more than just about food blogging (yes, that’s were it all began for me). And now that I’ve crossed over to ‘the other side’ I may never post another recipe or food photo. I’m having way too much fun reading and learning…and learn, I do.
But I digress…I agree with FloridaBorne, we really do need to try for “Meet and Greets” whenever possible. The bonds we build will become all the more sweet over cups of tea and coffee. I realize distance keeps many of us from ever getting the opportunity like the one afforded me today, but do consider the chance if it ever comes your way.
I never worried that I would be hijacked, kidnapped, held for ransom. FloridaBorne and I have been chitchatting back and forth and nothing set off my radar unit or called for periscope-up. If anything, being locked up in a cellar would have just given us more time to laugh and carry-on.
Hopefully she recoups quickly from that nasty strep. I want her to enjoy her flight home tomorrow without the nagging pressure in the eardrums upon departure and landing.
I failed to mention to her that I’m ‘adopting’ her daughter into my family. What a lovely and loving young lady she is! She guided me through an Oklahoma City treasure hunt as I misguided my way around the city. I can read a map, but have grave difficulty listening to the voice on an app giving me directions. Of course, things may have worked a tad bit more efficient had I typed in the correct address and the proper suburb. In the end everything worked out just fine. I blamed everything on a phone glitch, a reboot and hopefully they don’t read the last part of this post. Ya’ll be quiet and don’t let on that you know the finer details. If I find out otherwise, there ain’t no way I’m meeting up with any of ya’ll. DFW airport is huge and I may just have to pretend I thought you landed somewhere else.

Reblogged this on CoffeeGrounded's Blog and commented:
Seize the day if the opportunity ever presents itself! Yesterday I visited with a dear friend and blogger over tea, soup, and of course, coffee. FloridaBorne lives in Florida, and I can be found at the nearest coffee station close to the tarmac of DFW airport.

What a lovely visit the two of you had.
I have met one fellow blogger who took time out of her visit to family in Canada (she now lives in Australia) to come to Seattle and visit me.
Of course that was not the first time we met…the first time was in Venice, Italy! Now that’s meeting in the middle!
I have plans to meet others too (probably in Venice….Italy, not Florida or California or wherever else they have one).
So if any one of you has plans to be in the Seattle area….I’ll keep everyone posted on my blog when I plan to be in Venice.

Thanks for the offer. If I’m ever in the position to go to Europe, I’ll be sure to get the word out. What a great idea–a blogger meet and greet vacation. 🙂

It will be a few years until I’m back in Venice. Seattle is probably much closer for you….even if it is the other side of the country.

Being light sensitive, Seattle is a great place to meet. One day, when I win the lotto, I’d like to fly all over the world with my sister and meet lots of bloggers. (but first I have to buy a ticket). 🙂

And Seattle is a lot brighter than you would think….sometimes anyway.

I think it’s a wonderful idea to meet other bloggers! We could have a ‘Bloggers Unite” convention in a different country each year.

I think there are blogging conventions. It’s quite probable that most bloggers are as poor as you and I and can’t justify going unless it’s in a city where family lives. 🙂

I think it would be great to meet my fellow bloggers. I am so glad you two could meet. So glad you are feeling better and recovered from your strep. That is not a fun things to have. Of course being sick of any kind, is not fun. Have a great week both of you. 🙂

Cool. It’s easy to hide behind blogging and pretend it’s all about the words. Nah. Hope you’re better.
