Cottage For Sale – Part 2
“Well,” I say, “I’m getting on in years and…”
“Just a sec Gramps, I want to put this on speaker phone so my wife can hear it first hand.”
I hear a faint click and his slightly more distant voice comes across, “OK, go ahead with the story.”
I hear snickers in the bachground and wonder how many people will hear the story this time. It still makes me shake every time I tell it, but it really is only fair that they hear it before they buy the house.
“Well,” I continue, “as I was saying, I’m not so young any more and I haven’t spent a lot of time up there for the past 20 years or so.”
“At first it wasn’t because I didn’t want to, but because things kept coming up. When the kids were younger I used to take the whole family up every summer. It’s only an hour from town so we even spent weekends there from March until almost November.”
“I got the kids a paddle boat for Christmas one year and they spent that summer and summers for the next ten years paddling up and down the lake, using the boat as a diving platform, an oil rig, a space ship, and an escape from each other and from me and their mom.”
“At first we had a dog.”
Continued tomorrow…. 8:am EST

I guess I got mixed up, Kayuk. For some reason I didn’t get your response in my notifications. The same happened with Cats at the Bar. I came back to do some rereading after you re-blogged Florida’s post and found this. My apologies and you are welcome 🙂
