12-24-1945 tunnel at Papago Park POW camp
For the WWII buffs out there, I found pictures my mom took of the tunnel dug out by the German POW’s at the Papago Park camp in Arizona.
The story about the prisoner’s escape, complete with photos of the escapees and news stories, is at https://rantingalong.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/the-great-escape-by-25-nazis-12-1944/).
This is a picture of the POW camp:
These are pictures of the tunnel:
Sometimes, pictures are worth 1000 excuses (As in: Tunnel? What tunnel?).
Wow! How interesting to see.

My mom wasn’t a fan of the CYA surrounding the escape. She should’ve been a reporter. 🙂

Reminds me of the movie, “The Great Escape”. Say, your mom is movie-star material! 😀

The explanation can be found at the link in the 2nd paragraph. I called it “The great escape.” 🙂

My mother took the pictures of the tunnels at the time. That’s why it is so important to have these pictures accompany the story.
