Funny you would mention that. A couple of years after this picture was taken, I began an exercise program where I lost over 10 pounds. But I was plateauing at 139. Then, I started having problems with my stomach and was diagnosed with gastroparesis. In 1 year I went from 139 to 102. Now I hover between 105 – 109. I guarantee it’s not a weight loss method I’d recommend. 🙂
I used to want to strangle people who said, “No matter what I do, I can’t gain weight.” I had some rather descriptive words for those %*#&@! people. Then I became one of “those” people after getting mild gastroparesis. I often times find myself in the very situations that I’ve bitterly condemned someone else for, the experience of walking in their shoes quite enlightening. 🙂
I’ve been heavier twice in my life. The first time was after my son’s birth. I’d gained over 70 pounds in 9 months, but was 110 pounds a year later. Then, when hypothyroid hit, I gained 40 pounds in 2 years. When that picture was taken, I weighed around 145.
Been on that weight roller coaster myself. I gained 80lbs with my first daughter and lost it all before getting pregnant with my second only 8 months later! Plus I’ve also had my own thyroid fun!
“Fun” as in sarcasm? 🙂 For the past 6 months I’ve been on the worst end of that roller coaster ride and I think that’s part of the reason my humor and creativity aren’t up to par yet.
Definitely “fun” as in sarcasm. Yes indeed it’s frightening what thyroid imbalances can do not only to our bodies but also the way our brain works. I’m so sorry to hear how awful it’s been for you.
I agree, our life parallels are amazing and I think it’s very cool. It also seems that as time goes on more of them arise!
Nice. I think I’m starting to get Haiku.

It’s hard to lose, isn’t it?

Don’t go over 40 lbs. (It would be easy to do. Your brain has a higher than average MaxMets.) 😀

So cool to read some of your older posts. Especially like seeing an old photo, you don’t often share photos of yourself. 🙂

If you ever come to Florida, we can meet at the best restaurant in the area and talk for a few hours. I’d love that. 🙂
