HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FAVORITE DAUGHTER!

A rooftop my daughter and I slept on in Chefchaouen, Morocco.
“You’re the best daughter a mother could ever want,” I used to say.
“I’m you’re only daughter,” She would reply with a laugh that seemed to begin from within God’s heart.

So expressive, so full of wonder.
Wisconsin circa 1980
No one can make me laugh like Lydia, who throws quips into a group of people like Roger Maris used to hit home runs. Things like, “This must be where bad smells go to die,” were delivered in rapid succession.
I asked once if she’d considered a career as a stand-up comic. That, she said, was of no interest to her.
Lydia married the love of her life, spending her days traveling around the city for her job and taking care of a husband and 2 step-children she loves deeply.
!!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LYDIA!!!!
There’s not a daughter in this world who can compare to you!
Best birthday wishes, Lydia!

She called to say she shared this with her family. There’s nothing like her laughter to brighten my day.
